Our purpose-built BMX pump track provides the perfect opportunity for beginners and experienced riders alike to hone their BMX skills. The track features an all-weather surface with a range of berms, whoops and table tops which will test the skills of even the most competent riders. A flat practice area allows those with less experience to develop their basic skills before progressing onto the track itself.
The facilities are available for residential (including our campers) and day groups. Anyone wishing to use the course need only book in at the Trewern Centre reception. Please ring to check availability before travelling to avoid disappointment. Feel free to use your own equipment. Alternatively, we have a range of bikes, helmets, knee and elbow pads, and gloves that you can hire. BMX biking is a risk activity and all participants are required to wear protective equipment including a helmet at all times when riding at Trewern Outdoor Centre.
South Wales boasts an impressive selection of road biking, mountain routes and trail centres. Trewern Outdoor Centre is ideally situated to give cyclists access to the Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons and the Begwyn hills where there are many rides at a variety of skill levels. The Elan Valley isn’t far away and trail centres such as Bike Park Wales are easily accessible. If you fancy some downhill action, then Mynydd Du Dragon Downhill and the Forest of Dean are both within an hour’s drive of Trewern. The local winding lanes are popular with road cyclists, offering steep climbs and great views.
Leisure riders will also find plenty of gentler options and Hay-on-Wye, with its cafes and shops, makes a great spot to wind down at the end of the day. Drovers Cycles are just down the road for spares and repairs.
