Something you can do in only a handful of places in the UK! Towards
the southern edge of the National Park is a band of carboniferous limestone
full of caves. A number are perfectly suited for using with groups, and offer
an opportunity to explore a completely different environment, with an activity
that draws on skills used in many other outdoor adventures.
Recommended as a full day activity with most groups.
Whether on the rivers, or canals in the local area, canoeing and kayaking is an excellent activity in which we can experience the environment from a different perspective. Good teamwork is essential if you want to get where you’re going! Full or nearly full days are recommended.
Black Mountains/Brecon Beacons, hill/mountain/valley, high level/low level, the options for walking at Trewern are so varied, it’s hard to summarise in a small box! We can provide walks for all levels of fitness, with beautiful views, fantastic natural history and the chance to experience wonderful Welsh weather (have you ever been in a cloud before?). Available as full or half days and everything in between.
The local mountain streams tumble down steeply, creating beautiful waterfalls and gorges. Some offer a veritable playground for outdoor adventure as you attempt to follow them without leaving the water, or use each waterfall as a place to try something new. You haven’t lived until you’ve felt the power of a waterfall pounding down on your head!
Sometimes full or half days, and often combined with tunnel exploration.
These activities are generally on-site and stand alone, can
be combined to make a full day, or added to the main activities above when you
don’t quite want a full day. A few are also suitable as an evening activity for
after dinner entertainment.

A test of skill and calmness, can you hold your nerve to hit gold?!
Trewern has its own pump track, to test and challenge even the best riders. No prior skills required, because we develop those as we progress; we regularly get people learning to ride a bike here.
The ultimate team sport, where everyone has an important role to play as your climber scales the route. Indoor climbing at our recently re-set wall provides challenge for all, whether you have climbed before or not. Outdoor climbing in one of the quarries in the Brecon Beacons is also possible, although that takes longer and is often more of a full day.
A test of agility, co-ordination and teamwork, as you attempt to make the full circuit without touching the floor. Great for an evening activity.
Watch this space for new developments coming soon!
Advanced treasure hunting. Trewern’s orienteering course tests your map skills as you try to find all of our electronic control markers. An evening activity or a half day in its own right. We also have an indoor course.
The possibilities are endless, and we love setting challenges. We have a huge number of short teambuilding problems that can be used as icebreakers or as an evening session, indoors or out. We like to get visiting staff involved too!
